Membership

If you want to play your golf on a remarkably quiet and scenic course with outstanding views and one which has an enduring challenge, this is where to be a member. The Men’s section is very active, with plenty of friendly golf played throughout the week and during the summer enough competitive inter Club matches to satisfy most. Having an essentially broad church and extremely friendly membership is a big plus, as it means that everyone can find like-minded people without difficulty and there are many organised social events to satisfy a wide variety of interests.

Roll-ups form the main thrust for friendly play at West Surrey and consequently it is very easy to meet plenty of different members quickly. These are arranged mornings and afternoons except Tuesdays and Thursdays. In addition to the usual monthly medals and stablefords, there are winter and summer Match Play knock outs and many weekend cup competitions during the summer. Otherwise, we do not have to book to play our golf, which is a wonderful bonus. Should you feel like a change or simply wish to try your skills at different courses, we are fortunate to have the added benefit of reciprocal arrangements with four other quality Clubs, Barton-on-Sea, Bramshaw, Broadstone and Hayling Island.

Ladies Section

The Ladies section is run by its own committee of elected ladies, and meets primarily on a Tuesday morning when we have a dedicated 3 hour slot. There is plenty of golf arranged for the competitive and the not so competitive golfer. We play lots of fun competitions especially during the winter, but as well as medals and stablefords we are able to compete for a number of trophies. However alternative competitions are always arranged for those who do not wish to enter the trophy matches or who just fancy playing a friendly round of golf. New members frequently comment on how helpful and welcoming the members are.

Business Ladies are not forgotten and there is a special time set aside for them on a Saturday morning.

Of course we are not restricted to playing only on Tuesdays; the course is available to us 7 days a week, the only restriction being on Men’s competition days.

Not unexpectedly the ladies very much enjoy playing mixed golf, and there are plenty of opportunities for them to do this, as mixed golf is now featuring more and more.

We feel very privileged to belong to West Surrey, to play on its beautiful and well managed course, to enjoy a drink, food and conversation in the clubhouse and to be able to take part in the social life of the club.
