Centenary Week

The main events will be held during an eight day period from

Wednesday 9th June until Wednesday 16th June 2010.
The Club House will be ‘extended’ with a marquee onto the terrace and lawn area to provide additional facilities.
Wednesday 9th June is Centenary Day.   On this day in 1910, J.H. Taylor and James Braid played an exhibition match against the West Surrey Professional, Fred Robson, and Charles Johns of Ashtead Manor.  We plan to celebrate the day by holding a special luncheon for West Surrey members and selected guests from the golfing world and the local community.  The R&A Captain for 2010, Colin Brown, has confirmed that he will be present.
Prior to the luncheon, we are planning a golf match against the British Golf Collectors' Society.

On Thursday morning, 10th June, the West Surrey Ladies section will invite special guests from other clubs and representatives from the golfing establishment to play golf followed by luncheon.
On Thursday afternoon, the team captains of the Scratch, A, Social, HBL & BL  will hold a similar event followed by supper.
On Friday 11th June, there will be a Veteran's Centenary Competition for all West Surrey male members over the age of 60.
On Saturday 12th June, the Mixed Centenary Competition will be held for all West Surrey members.
On Saturday evening, there will be a Gala Evening with champagne reception, dinner and "West End Show" entertainment.
On Sunday 13th June, the main Men's Centenary Competition will be held.
On Monday 14th June, the West Surrey men's section will invite special guests from other clubs and representatives of the golfing establishment to play golf, followed by luncheon.
On Tuesday 15th June, the Ladies Centenary Competition will be held for all West Surrey lady members.
On Wednesday 16th June, there will be a special Centenary Team Competition for West Surrey members and staff, for which men, ladies and juniors will be eligible to enter.
On Wednesday evening, the celebrations will conclude with prize giving for all the members' centenary competitions, followed by a hog roast and BBQ
Note, there will be a ballot to ensure that all members wishing to represent the Club on the guest days during Centenary Week have an equal chance.
